Greenstreet Greenwalls is the interior landscape offering that Greenstreet brings to the market. A Greenwall or living wall is when you take a wall that would otherwise be painted or have art on it and put live plants on it, making it a living art piece. Many of our clients use them to lighten up a lobby or open up areas that otherwise would be neutral or ‘boring’. Greenstreet Greenwalls can be customized to meet the buyers wants and needs and offer a variety of options to elevate the aesthetics of the environment.
Greenstreet Greenwalls are an extremely unique offering in the greenwall space. Most greenwalls look very aesthetically pleasing but likely just have potted plants hanging in some sort of vertical design that waters the plants via drip line or filling a channel, making the plants themselves no more active than the average house plant.
The patented Greenwall system that we provide is an active living wall that promotes not only plant growth, but also acts as an air filter for the space that it is occupying. This is accomplished through an innovative and proprietary contained system. We pump both air and water into the system and using a creative wick design we can both absorb water and allow air to flow we can feed the plants with both water and air. The water runs into the wall on a timer that is tested in installation and is set to a time that will fill the wall a few times a week. The water gets to the plants via the fiber inside the wick and one end of the wick sits inside the Greenwall and absorbs water as it works its way down through the system. The other end of the wick is contacting the soil, allowing the plant to receive water without getting pollution in the water supply. Soil and the water never make direct contact with each other. The water that drains out of the system is just as clean as the water going into it. The system can be mounted to any drywall with studs in it and can be as tall or as wide as the customer would want it to be. As long as there is a water source nearby, we can get water to it.
The air is delivered via a fan – in the space that the Greenwall is occupying we have a fan taking the polluted air and pumping it into the system. The same wick that delivers the water also has a channel that allows air to flow into the plant’s root system. The polluted air gives the microorganisms and the plant’s roots fuel to grow as well as dirty air to convert into oxygen. The plants on our system grow significantly faster than the typical houseplant. The system has been proven to clean common pollutants found indoors like paint and appliance glues. Think of the Greenwall as a natural air filter for the space it is occupying.
Our exterior system works on a very different system. These walls are based on a grid panel. The pots are then arranged in rows along the grid pattern and drip lines are placed above the system and will water the plants based on the required schedule. Due to the plants being outside we use a very different selection of plants that will thrive in this setting. A selection of ivies are used in the winter months and in the summer we use a variety of different summer plants to liven up the settings. In one of our Greenwalls located in a restaurant, we have used plants like lantana and vinca to add color and texture to the design. We have also given outdoor clients herbs like mint to have on the wall and they are able to use it in their drinks as a bonus!
If someone is looking to liven up an outdoor patio or make an office space a more welcoming place for its employees, a Greenstreet Greenwall is a great option. With the added air filtration benefits and ability to improve any aesthetic, it’s hard to say no to Greenstreet Greenwalls. Contact us today for more information on how we can elevate your space!
