GREAT LAWNS in FIVE EASY STEPS

Occasional maintenance

Occasional maintenance is required to make your lawn look more beautiful. If there are bare spots in your lawn, the best time to reseed in the Chesapeake region is in the fall. Choose grass seed that will grow in the particular location, e.g., sun or shade or in between. Greenstreet Gardens recommends TurfSense Brand Premium Certified tall fescue blend grass seed. The same seed can be used for both sun and shade environments – use just one-half the rate for shade. If there are high or low spots in your lawn, level them to create a flat surface. Follow the directions on the bag for soil preparation, seeding, and mulching. The result will be a lush and uniform appearance.
Clean debris from on and around your lawn. In the fall and throughout the winter, rake up leaves and any debris caused by excessive raking. Be careful not to take too much soil. Dispose of leaves and any thatch of excessive clippings.
The fastest and easiest way to a great looking lawn is to prevent problems and cure them as they spring up. Check with the staff at Greenstreet Gardens for detailed answers to any questions you may have related to maintaining a lush and attractive lawn.
